Skin care: Why is spring so good for us?

Spring weather again at last! The first warm rays of sunshine on your skin, simply a great feeling. Many people also like to talk about spring fever. But do they really exist and do they have an effect on our skin?

We provide answers here on the topic of skincare: Why is spring so good for us?

Well-being and more positive feelings

The answer is yes, spring is good for us. Psychologists actually confirm this and the cause lies in the increased exposure to light. Perhaps not necessarily something new. But it is always fascinating to see how our bodily functions are regulated. If it gets dark in the late afternoon in winter, dusk shifts further back with the start of spring. From mid-February, three to four minutes of light are added each day. As a result, the duration of daylight becomes longer, and this is precisely what causes more positive feelings, for example.

The warmth of the first rays of sunshine also makes us feel better. The reason for this is that our hormone levels are boosted. During the shorter phases of the day, the body produces the hormone melatonin not only at night but also on the darker days. This promotes sleep and makes you tired. This often results in a certain amount of spring tiredness during the transition.

The warm spring weather activates a reduction in melatonin production and at the same time stimulates the production of endorphins and serotonin (happiness hormones). Similar reactions are known from sporting activities. At least according to numerous theories.

Studies also show that there is a clear link between depressed mood and vitamin deficiency. This applies in particular to vitamin D. Sunlight is the most important source here. Production takes place via direct sunlight on the skin. Activities in the sun therefore promote vitamin production, especially after a long winter phase. But be careful! Of course, the skin should not be exposed to UV radiation for too long or unprotected at any time of year, as this is the only way to avoid sun-damaged skin.

And what does spring mean for our skin and its care?

Our skin is also “happy” about the warmer season. Cold and rainy weather also has its consequences and often results in sensitive skin or dry skin. The skin often lacks moisture and protection in winter. This is because the colder it gets, the less sebum the sebaceous glands produce. The constant change from cold and warm or the dry heating air to the cold air masses outside is hard on the skin. With the onset of spring, not only does it become significantly warmer again, but clothing also becomes looser and the lack of light and air comes to an end. At the same time, sebum production is stimulated again and the skin’s own protective layer is strengthened.

It is important to provide the skin with optimal support for its natural regeneration at all times, with regenerating and protective active ingredients and the right skin care. Preferably, of course, without harmful or irritating substances but with a sufficient supply of moisture. Everything for healthy skin. It is also important to always drink enough water. Moisturizing from the inside is crucial for the skin’s appearance and the best anti-aging for the skin.

Winter is also a challenge for blemished skin. In addition, oily skin needs to find the right skin care. This is because it does not need moisturizing care, even if the cold temperatures suggest this. Moisturizing ingredients, such as those in skinicer Repair Serum, are just the right thing. This also applies to all other seasons.

With this in mind, you and your skin stay healthy! Fortunately, the start of spring is not long in coming. And if you have any other questions about skin or skin care, you can find helpful tips in our expert tips.
