What helps with spots or blackheads?

Blackheads or pimples are unpleasant appearances on our skin. Everyone wants to get rid of them as quickly as possible.

But what exactly can help with spots or blackheads look like? What measures help to improve or support the appearance of the skin? We provide the answers here.

What causes spots or blackheads?

Many factors can influence the appearance of our skin. Hormonal changes, diet and individual skin care can all affect the skin. And not always in a positive way. Blackheads usually develop on the face, particularly affecting the so-called T-zone: forehead, nose and chin area.

Pimples and blackheads always develop where the openings of the pores become keratinized and the production of sebum or the drainage of excess sebum is disrupted. As a result, the pore becomes blocked and blackheads, also known as whiteheads, develop.

If this sebum comes to the surface in the blocked pores and comes into contact with oxygen, it can lead to a dark discoloration. This is also known as a blackhead. If these do not open, they are referred to as closed comedones. If bacteria are added, this can lead to inflammation and the formation of pimples. In the further process, pus can often form in these inflammation foci.

But what can those affected do to prevent the formation of blackheads or spots? And what helps if blackheads are already there? First things first: the most important thing is always proper cleansing and care.

What helps to improve the appearance of the skin?

When caring for people with blackheads, spots or blemished skin, the focus is on regulating the skin problem. The steps for morning and evening are not that different:

In the morning after getting up

Who doesn’t know this? After getting up, the first thing you do is refresh your face with cold water to wake you up, of course. But even here, with the right cleansing, the face can be easily cared for and the skin freed from excess skin cells.

With a gentle and mild cleanser, such as the skinicer Repair Cleanser, the pores can be freed from excess sebum and thus prevent clogging. This is recommended depending on the skin type. For very dry, sensitive skin, this can also be omitted and the cool refreshment is completely sufficient. Then apply a skin type-appropriate care product with UV protection for the day.

For oily skin, for example, this means applying a care product that moisturizes but is not greasy. This means choosing products without oily or greasy ingredients, such as the skinicer Repair Serum.

The evening routine

You should always cleanse your skin in the evening. Whether make-up or general everyday dirt is removed from the skin. Only then can the care product for the night be applied.

Otherwise, make-up, everyday dirt or sunscreen would be mixed with the care product, then rubbed into the skin and clog the fine skin pores. Very unpleasant! With the right and gentle care, however, excessive keratinization can be prevented.

Especially when you consider what dirt and bacteria can do to our skin. You can read more about this in our article on germs.

Overnight care

During the night, the skin can also be gently and regularly (max. 1-2 times a week) additionally supported, for example with a care mask. With a combined complex of active ingredients, the skin is optimally supported overnight. This provides the skin with moisture and at the same time offers a pleasant relaxation treatment for the skin.

When choosing products, it is also important to always consider the skin’s natural pH value and use gentle products. The product should also have an antibacterial effect.

Pimples or blackheads: Don’t squeeze them out!

Please avoid squeezing blackheads or pimples at all costs. Especially with your fingers. In this way, dirt particles and bacteria often penetrate even deeper into the skin layers and can cause far worse inflammation. Even small things can help to avoid inflammatory processes:

  • Do not touch your face with your fingers and if you do, wash your hands regularly.
  • Change and wash towels/washcloths regularly.
  • Additional tip: Also clean powder brushes or make-up sponges regularly. This is where a lot of bacteria accumulate. A healthy diet also helps to improve the appearance of the skin. Find out more here in the expert tip: Nutrition tips: Food against pimples
  • But be careful! Despite all this, prevention and cleansing should not be exaggerated. Excessive facial care can attack the skin’s natural protective layer and damage the skin.
